story one: painting explorations_sketchbook on boards
These images are taken from my sketchbook and painted on wood with 2"x2" side panels for depth. I worked with a variety of paints for the backgrounds and acrylic paint for the graphic drawings. Having a wood base allowed me to sand the surfaces and apply multiple layers of paint. Each sanding revealed the color behind, which is the best part of the paintings to me. I like the rawness and folk art feel of the art. It is a look not attainable by computer, but the image discovered through repeated applications and experimentation.
